This blog is a means to turn my inner musings outward. No audience is needed, only the knowledge that my thoughts are no longer hidden. As a member of the LDS Church who has greatly struggled with many aspects of doctrine and church culture, I believe my greatest affliction, and moreover, the greatest threat to my faith, has been my belief that to be a Mormon, I must also be a mute.
Recently, I have begun to read Terryl Givens and Fiona Givens and my outlook has greatly changed. Their books have planted within me the hope that there is a place for reason, for questioning, for healthy discussion and debate within the Church; support for my private belief that doubt is not something to be feared, but to be discussed openly. Any posts published here are primarily for my own benefit, to satisfy my need to demonstrate that I am no longer a mute in this Church.
